Appreciate
that there is a force on a charged particle when it moves in a magnetic field
as long as its motion is not parallel to the field
When charged
particles enter a magnetic field the charged particles get deflected. Charged
particles from the sun enter our magnetic field and are deflected to produce
what we call the aurora borealis (northern lights)
